Abstract geometric painting with triangles in red, green, orange, blue, and white colors, framed in wood.

Owen Blackwell is an artist and storyteller, living, working, and studying in San Luis Obispo California.

Blackwell’s work is influenced by pre-Columbian South American textiles, Andalusian tile work, and the folk traditions of both Chile and the United States. His painting process is one of construction and excavation: paint is applied, sanded down, reworked, and revealed. Canvases, once abandoned, find new life.

Beyond painting, he is a musician, writer, and, and student, currently studying City & Regional Planning at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
